With my big day less than 6 months away, my mind is on all things weddings lately! So, when I went to the most beautiful bridal shower a couple weeks ago, I knew I needed to capture some of it and add it to the blog for inspiration.
Many years ago, my cousin Ben introduced us to his sweet girlfriend Ali, who will now become his wife in just a few months and the newest member of our family!
Ali immediately fit right in to our loud, competitive, obnoxious family, so when we all got an invite to the wedding, we were ecstatic we didn’t actually scare her away!
A few weeks ago, we went to Ali’s bridal shower in Connecticut and to say it was “swoon worthy” would be an understatement. Everything from the decor to the party favors to the baked goods, were perfect.
I will say what stood out most to me was the decor, which was so well put together by Ali’s sister, Mercedes. The theme of the entire shower was “around the world” and the decor definitely reflected that. The maps, globes, suitcases, and wicker dressforms were collected from the Brimfield Flea Market, Elephant Trunk Flea Market, and local antique stores. Mercedes also did a ton of work herself from the lettering to the garlands – it was all done by hand. You can find her on Instagram and see some more of her incredibly creative projects. The rest of the decor was from Etsy and the delicious foods were from local bakeries and shops in Connecticut.
Lastly, Mercedes hired a local professional photographer to capture the day. I loved this idea! Erin from Erin Reemsnyder Photography captured all the biggest moments as well as the beautiful decor. As a current bride to be myself, I loved this because I noticed guests didn’t feel the need to have their phones out or snap pictures with Ali – there was someone right there capturing it all for them.
Overall it was such a wonderful day and I cannot wait to be at the wedding in October! I’ll be sure to add in some more “wedding material” of my own very soon. Have a great rest of your week.
